Retreat : Noun or Verb?

RETREAT
(rĭ-trēt')

Verb: definition 1- To fall back, the act or process of withdrawing. For example: Withdrawal of a military force from a dangerous position or from an enemy attack

Noun: definition 2- A place affording peace, quiet, refuge or safety

As you can see, retreat is both a verb and a noun! Retreat does not mean surrender, it simply means falling back, those in retreat are actually regrouping to a place of safety. While you and I may not be in a physical war, all of us experience spiritual attack from a very real enemy, the enemy of our souls. Sometimes we are simply weary from the stress of doing life and we need a change of scenery to be restored. Fellowship and belonging is a basic need, the desire to be somewhere where others know and love us and can encourage us along in this journey we share.

Times of rest and retreat rarely happen unless we plan for them, so we must be intentional about planning for them. We at The Grove know it is important to experience retreat together, so we have planned two retreats one for men and one for women. We have purposely planned these to accommodate the busiest schedule and we have made every effort to keep the cost affordable for all.

So… won’t you join us? Camp Burton is less than 30 minutes away, and the time commitment away is only a Friday evening through the Saturday dinner hour. We promise that there will be food, fun, lots of laughter and of course a spiritual component to encourage and challenge you on your way. Check your bulletin for dates and times. If you have questions or need more information women can give me a call. Men can contact Pastor Jeff.

.... Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea…. Mark 3:7a

Until next time,
Peggy
